Frequently asked questions - bullets

What material are the bullets made of?

All our bullets, both Fox Classic hunter and Fox Target are made of tombac / cooper-zinc alloy (CuZn10).

Copper–zinc alloy bullets offer several advantages over solid copper bullets due to their modified material properties. By adding a small amount of zinc to copper, the resulting alloy becomes harder and stronger than pure copper. This increased hardness helps the bullet better retain its shape during firing and at high velocities, leading to improved consistency and potentially better accuracy.

Another benefit of copper–zinc alloys is reduced friction and barrel fouling. Pure copper can be relatively soft and “sticky,” which may cause more residue buildup inside the barrel. Alloying with zinc slightly reduces this effect, allowing smoother travel through the barrel and more stable performance, especially in high-speed applications.

Our bullets have a lower BC, because we made this cone point shape which allowed us to have a shorter bullet. This allows to stabilize even heavier bullets in standard twist rates. But anyway, inside 300meters the slightly lower BC doesn’t have an important impact on the bullet performance.

Even though Fox Bullets are lead free they don’t need a high impact velocity to deform properly. The ideal impact velocity of our bullets is between 700 and 800m/s, but they will expand properly down to 600m/s on smaller game like roe deer, and down to 500m/s big size animals. This means that you can hunt roe bucks inside 300 meters with almost all standard calibers, that’s why we call our bullet ‘’Fox Classic Hunter’’, because it was made for traditional European hunters.

0We recommend to our customers to use normal weight bullets, like for example a 165gr bullet in a 30-06 or 308win, to avoid excessive meat damage, due to fast deformation.

Precision is our biggest straights. Bullets are turned on a lathe machine from a solid piece of material – 2 m roods. The diameter, length, and shape can be controlled very precisely—often to within a few microns. This consistency means each bullet behaves almost identically in flight, which improves accuracy. Turned bullets also have a more uniform weight distribution.

Frequently asked questions - ammunition

With what bullet is Fox Ammunition loaded?

All our ammunition is loaded with our lead-free hunting bullet, ‘’Fox Classic hunter’’.

We use only Reload Swiss powder and RWS primers.

For cases we use mostly S&B and in calibers PPU.

In special calibers like 8,5×55 Blaser, 8x68S and 10,3x60R we use custom made brass from SHM from Germany. In these calibers we also have our own ‘’Fox’’ headstamp. Where we use other brand’s brass  we have an additional side stamp ’’FOX’’.

Yes, it is.  All ammo is CIP proofed in Venna, so all ammo boxes have a CIP proof label on them.

All the ammunition is produces in Slovenia in our factory.
